The Powermate Power
System Analyzer is a self-contained, state-of-the-art, portable field tester
that combines all of the features needed for field

testing. Its lightweight design, battery-powered operation, graphical displays,
and easy-to-use menus not only allow quick verification of meter service wiring
and total loop meter accuracy but also detailed analysis of installation
components (i.e., wiring, CTs, VTs) if a problem is found.

ERCOT SPECIFIC TESTS :
3. Current Transformers: The Powermate tests not only the CT Burden
("by the addition of a known burden") but also tests CT ratio. For
de-energized circuits, the Powermate 730A can
directly measure the impedance (ie, resistance and phase angle) of the ENTIRE
secondary loop with a shorting jumper installed across the CT secondary
terminals.
3.5 Secondary Wiring : directly tested along
with the CTs (see CT testing above)
4. Voltage Transformers : The Powermate can
calculate the actual VA burden (total loop) by measuring the VT secondary
current and the VT voltage. If the VT secondary terminals can be accessed, the
voltage drop across the ENTIRE secondary loop can also be measured.
6. Testing and Calibration : The Powermate
embedded true 3-phase standard can field verify the accuracy of a meter to
better than 0.05% at ANSI test points using direct current from test switch
connections. The Powermate can be readily calibrated against a utility reference
standard as frequently as desired using the normal field Meter Test function.
6.5 Calibration Tolerances : The Powermate
730A can automatically test a meter for 3-phase registration at FL,
LL, and PF as well as for phase balance. Testing can be performed for W-hr and
VAR-hr, delivered or received, without changing the test configuration or field
jumpers.
